It is hard to believe that another school year is coming to an end… Where, oh where, does the time go?

Even though our upcoming speaker meeting will be our last until after the Summer, it promises to be a great event. Not only are we pleased to host Michael Boll and hear the exciting plans he has for next year, but we also want to take time to enjoy a buffet lunch with all our current SCF members, guests, professionals and providers. Please note, since we will need to order in food for this event, we ask that all attendees make a donation of 50rmb at the door and also send in an RSVP.

If you are unsure of attendance, please RSVP anyway, as we would prefer to have more food than not enough.

This month’s guest speaker will be Mike Boll from Shine Academy.

“Michael Boll, who has a son with autism, is excited to announce the opening of a new program: SHINE Academy.”

SHINE Academy is the result of a partnership between the owners of Olivia’s Place, Quynh and Nelson Chow, Fausta Galluzzo, owner of the NEST, and Michael a teacher at Concordia.

Shanghai Inclusive Enrichment (SHINE) Academy offers a two-tracked program for mainstream students and those with special needs. A strong focus on inclusion means both tracks of students work together where appropriate.

Michael will discuss how SHINE came together, its mission and goals, and how thrilled he is to be a part of Shanghai’s first fully inclusive academy.

Hello to Parents, Carers, Educators & Clinicians,

This is an excellent EVENING opportunity to hear, Dr Raazhan Rae Seebach, Educational Psychologist and Tracy Shiring, Educational Consultant present their follow-up to February’s Speaker Meeting, ”What to do after you have had your child assessed PART 2?”

This second part follow-up to February’s presentation will focus on:

“The structure of the report, how to read it for key information, what to do with recommendations, how to present information to schools and advocate for the needs of children, what schools can do?”

We will hold this Speaker Meeting at Community Center Shanghai – Pudong Center, on Monday 7th May, in the evening 6:30pm – 8:00pm

The Speaker Meeting is free to all SCF Parent Members and a fee of 50RMB is required from non-members, Professionals and guests!

Next Book/DVD Club meeting, for Parent Members, will be this Wednesday 14th March, 1pm – 3pm at Lisa Hwang’s house, please email lisahwang7@gmail.com or call 13818167876 for more information.

Our Guest Speaker Meeting will be held this Friday 16th March at 11.15am until 12.45pm at the Community Centre, Pudong. Please feel free to bring “brown bag lunch” if required.
We have Dr Susan Cadzow, Pediatrician and Dr Steve Xu, Clinical Psychiatrist and Chair of Mental Health from Shanghai United Family Hospital. They will be speaking on the “Medical Model of Diagnosis”. In other words, addressing how a medical doctor walks a family through the process of diagnosis of autism, ADHD and/or other learning base issues,by ruling out physical causes of symptoms and directing parents to appropriate professionals.The Speaker’s Meeting is free to all SCF members & there will be a 50 RMB fee for non-members.

Membership forms will be available at our meetings for re-registering & new members to complete, at a fee of 100 RMB for the remaining half year’s membership.
